The Holy Eucharist offered by Rev.Fr.Datius OCD set the tone for December 6th.

Rev.Fr.Datius OCD, Provincial of Manjummal Province was the resource person for the input sessions on 6th and 7th.

He shared his insights on the chapter theme ‘Contemplative, Committed personal life towards Joyful Witness in Community and Mission’.

§ Religious make the Church
§ Religious are called to Holiness through consecration, communion and mission
§ Two fold dynamic aspects of the Church-seeking God above all else and availability to the Church and to one another.
§ Our responsibility to seek God.
§ Religious testimony is a life of beatitudes
§ Call to Carmelite life is a call to prayer and contemplation
§ Contemplation means fixing our eyes on God
§ The Church expects us to specialize ourselves in the art of personal prayer
§ The essential elements of contemplation
- Personal relationship with Jesus
- Meditation on the Word of God
- Centrality of the Eucharist
- Sacrament of Reconciliation coupled with direction
- Devotion to Mother Mary
- Personal and community asceticism.

Fr.Datius focused on ‘Joyful witnessing life in community’.

§ Theological reflection on community life before and after second Vatican Council
§ Communion and Community
§ Four elements of community

Theme:Contemplative Committed personal life towards Joyful
Witness in Community and Mission

Eucharistic Celebration:
We started the day with a special morning prayer at 6 a.m. on 5th asking God’s blessing on each of the Chapter delegates. Fr.Vincent Arackal the vicar General of Calicut diocese celebrated the Holy Mass for the success of the 19th Ordinary Provincial Chapter at 6.30.a.m. In his key note address he reminded us of the Shepherding care we need to have in our apostolate and he also appreciated the Apostolic Carmel sisters’ edifying and silent presence in their apostolic endeavours.

Introductory Prayer Service

Provincial Chapter is a special event that calls for a profound conversion, renewal and transformation in us as individuals and communities.

Procession to the Chapter Hall:
The graceful and rhythmic movements of our Junior sisters in dance made the procession enchanting and beautiful.

Enthronement of the Bible:
To make the Chapter fruitful we remain docile to the Word of God.

The Provincial Superior Sr.M.Snehalatha declare
the Chapter open.

She said that we are commissioned to make the goodness and compassion of God experientially available to the members of our community and the people outside. This flow of love and compassion originates from our contemplation and being nourished by the energy of the Divine. Our vowed life is a protest against the materialism, consumerism and individualism which has become a culture of the time. All Christians much more we as religious are called to develop a contemplative consciousness that leads to action.

Officials of the Chapter:

Co-ordinator: Sr.M.Ancilla
Moderators: Srs.M.Rosaire, Joselin Joseph, M.Annunciata, M.Theodolinda
Secretary: Sr.Maria Sudeera
